Studying Fine Arts does not consist of instructions but trials, proposals, discussions and hints, which at the same time train discursive skills, which today are an integral part of art itself. Thus, in addition to creating one’s own projects and concepts, studying art also consists of the awareness of every brush stroke, every material or method that is used, every form of illustration or presentation, every media format or interplay of media as an aesthetic moment. This also includes the exploration of the gaps and breaks or the fragility and precariousness of social and cultural systems and their presentation and production.
To a great extent, it is necessary to acquire knowledge of the theory and the history of art, media and culture. This also means the effective use of all the expert facilities offered at the Academy, namely the Centre for Media and the Centre for Theory.
Interdisciplinary projects, worked on together with the other fields increase the capacity for dialogue and the contextualisation of artistic work. The view “beyond one’s own nose” is expressively required and desired.
