The Study of Painting

In the study of painting, particular focus is given to perception and working with materials. For the degree, this concerns the development of the student’s own painting language and own concepts. A pre-requisite for this is the sharpening of perception and reflection on one’s own work.

The course of study comprises tutorials and group discussions on current artistic and theoretical topics. Excursions are offered, which stimulate an examination of the science and history of art as well as current events in art in particular. An incentive to discuss individual positions of artists is also given and expanded on in publications, films, texts or presentations. Exhibitions in the Kiel region are visited and discussed.
