Technology design (Bachelor)

Technology always develops from the primitive, to the complicated, to the simple.
(Saint-Exupery)

The technical demands of artefacts are becoming increasingly similar. This is why the individuality and experience of form as well as its comprehensibility, in the sense of use, are increasingly becoming determining factors in manufacturing. It does not pertain to an emotional exaggeration, often related to the wrong object, but rather design solutions against a socio-cultural and technical-economic background.

Medical design (Master)

“Designing Perspectives for Health” is the guideline for the Master’s course programme. With it, we observe complex problems in society and health as a whole and thus go beyond the design of medical technology.
At the centre is the development of future-oriented scenarios. Here, integrating solutions to products, processes, systems and services are conceived and presented (“scenario design”). These processes require a professional, conceptual handling of complex relations, i.e. a consideration of organisational, socio-cultural and regulative factors. We also need to take into account new technologies and ways of harmonizing divergent human needs.
Due to the close relationship between interdisciplinary project work and theoretical reflection the course tries to open up different access points and contributions. Also against this background, more widespread research into societal change is possible and desired.
