Language and Communication

What is the primary objective?
A communication designer believes that imagery and language belong together. The objective is for the communication designer to acquire a repetoire of both of these, in order to be able to solve communication tasks with considerable empathy and intuition as well as knowledge.
What steps are needed to accomplish this?

1. Dealing with language
What kind of language does one speak as a child, a youth or an adult?
How does language change due to situation, choice of career, interests?
How does language change due to developments in society?
The decisive factor is the intensive study of language in the media: what kind of language do we find in literature? What kind of language is spoken in which media?
Furthermore, it is important to take a look at history: What kind of language was spoken when? What kind of developments have taken place since and still take place in spoken language? What developments have taken place in written forms of the language?
The different forms of expression are highlighted: what is everyday language? What is reduced language in communication? What kind of language do we find in art?
It is therefore necessary to develop a feeling for language in order to acquire accuracy of judgement and to use language correctly.

2. Conception
Please read the comments under “Conception and Design”.
It is essential for every communication designer before beginning work to write a precise concept which describes the approach to the task at hand. What do I want to achieve? Who is it for? How will I achieve it? With what means and in which media. What is the objective?

3. Basics of Marketing
The objective is to acquire a basic understanding of marketing techniques.

4. Presentation
How do I present my work, as a communication designer, in a comprehensible manner?
And beyond this, how do I inspire an audience for the solution that has been developed?
