The Route to the Muthesius Academy

Are you interested in studying Fine Arts, Industrial Design, Interior Design or Communication Design? Then send an application including a portfolio with expressive examples of your work.

The application deadline for the winter semester ends on 15th May each year.
The field of design offers an additional application deadline for the summer semester, the deadline for this is every 15th November.

The requirements for a portfolio differ from study course to study course. We offer the possibility of discussing your portfolio beforehand within the context of a preparatory interview.

Formally, the portfolio should comprise 20 to 30 original pieces of work and should not be larger than 62 x 86 cm (DIN A1), with the exception of applications for the study of Fine Arts.

Three-dimensional work can be reproduced by photographs. Digital and film work should be submitted on CD-ROM or DVD as well as documented in the form of screenshots. Corresponding storyboards and concept should also be submitted in printed form.

If your portfolio is assessed positively, you will receive an invitation to undertake a three-day aptitude test.
