The “Center for Interdisciplinary Studies“,
founded in 1996, provides the Muthesius
Academy with a “forum”,
which is unique at institutions of higher education. Due to its wide-ranging
programme of lectures, interdisciplinary symposiums, workshops or podium
discussions, there is regular opportunity to examine the positions taken in
relation to the latest research of the interdisciplinary scientific community
and in this ways produce a dynamic in research and
teaching. Equally fundamental for this dynamic is a desired interplay between
theory and practice. This is intended as a theory of practice and a practice of
theory in the sense of a corrective function of the one field for the other.
This allows changes in professional and practical fields to be taken into
account.
In addition to the changing lectures adapted to correspond with the
requirements of the different fields of study, there are two general events
which concentrate on specific themes and take place over a longer period of
time.
