The Forum in Teaching

The intended idea of the teaching of the forum is the communication of a fundamental knowledge of art, culture and the media, which offers a solid basis for the understanding of social and cultural relationships in their historical development. In doing so, the basic function of media is given particular attention. It focuses on the acquisition of theoretical and practical media skills, i.e. the ability to analyse expressions used by the media and to practice media-specific design. An aspect that is connected to acquiring this skill is the necessity to awaken a curiosity which is exploratively creative and artistically inventive.

In combination with the forum events, the students should, so to speak, carry out a constant self-analysis of societal and individual actions and in this way combine the necessary pragmatism with an ethos which is becoming ever more important.

General focus: a reflection of scene setting, to be understood as the cultural and media practices of cultural and human self-interpretation, with regard to the constitutive function of reality and events.

Special focus: the “culture” of listening, acoustic staging (sound design) in different media and life contexts.
